Once there was a snowman...

Myleigh had been wanting to go out and build a snowman all day wednesday so we finally did it after we ran some errands. we got Natty and Amy watched Phebe for us so we could go and build one. the snow was thick and wet so it rolled up nicely. it was actually kinda fast, thank goodness cause it was cold. Poor Myles ended up with a bad cough and runny nose. now we're paying for it. we've been inside all day trying to recoup before we leave for home. we got the whole thing built and had to put on the heart to 'make him come to life'. i told the girls to 'wait for it'. they stared at it for a few seconds, both im sure just waiting for it to come alive. i couldnt help it, i yelled and made them both jump.
L to R: Mom, Myleigh, Snowman. (not pictured: Natty, after the snow man was done she hurried inside to play with Phebe. :D)

I really dont know whats going on in this pictures. i cant remember. she didnt cry while we were out there. was she yelling at me? she wasnt cold, i had to make her come back in, oh well. we had fun. we made a snow man last year in December and i think he lasted all the way thru till February?. we'll see how long this guy lasts. i just hope his cool accessories dont get stolen.

Myleighs curls

i remember my mom putting my hair up in rags and wanted to do the same with Myleigh. Piggies 'N Ponies had a post on 'Old Fashion Curls' so after her bath i ran and got an old receiving blanket and wrapped up her hair. i love it.
Before:

After:when i first took out the rags my first reaction was, "uh-oh" till i pinned it back and put on a cute ribbon and flower. like the blog said its a two day hair style, it was actually cuter the today. unfortunately we didnt get any pictures of her today since she was sick, but I'll definitely do this one again. :D

Dear Dez,

Dear Dez,
Ever since you started your new diet I've been tempted to change my ways till I have days like this:

i feel like sugar brings out the fun in all of us. maybe its our sugar high but i love the squeals and obnoxious laughter of my girls when they eat candy and frosting and more candy.

I even get sugary, sticky and wet kisses like this:
and this:

after all, you are what you eat right? and i love sweets. :D
Hey sis,
Eat your heart out. ;) hahahaha

Myleigh's quiet time books

Myleigh loves to take some books to quiet time. she gets to pick out some books and take them to bed which she will read over and over till shes bored. this day i thought i would for sure get a nap from her with her choice of books.and she fell asleep on the stairs!!!

no, just kidding. :D she didnt, this is her procrastinating bed time. i swear with how long it takes her to get upstairs to bed she could fall asleep on the stairs.

Thanksgiving In Nauvoo (tons of pictures)

Day 1: left for Nauvoo at 2:30. Girls crashed...

start out good but got lost 3 times and took 2.5 hours longer than should have...

Day 2: Girls wrecked and slept past 7!!

wrong turn (again) that led us to Carthage

"mommy, thats where Joseph Smith died." she was obviously listening.
Finally made it to Nauvoo and did a wagon ride. very nice, a bit breezy.
Rendezvous, performed by the senior missionaries was very funny and entertaining.

Day 3: Thanksgiving Day, Family Living Center then lunch at a chuck a rama-type place. we missed home and family and friends but it was good! and no dishes!!
crashed again after a long day. first time Myleigh slept on me in a long long long time.

Result, a slobbery and sweaty shirt.

Day 4: Dad went to the truck with out her. shawn said he could hear her crying all the way down the hall. she wanted to go with him so bad. he came back and got her. what a sucker.

Thanksgiving In Nauvoo

a much nicer day...

we kept thinking about our poor Phebe, she'll look at these pictures when shes older and wonder where she was, heres her proof we had her. :D she was bundled up the whole time. :D

Phebe fell asleep feeding then laid face down.
Myleigh fell asleep with arms up. :D

Day 5: Saturday morning sessions at Nauvoo. loved it.

she stole a bag of seeds and called it her lunch and munched on those while we waited for shawn at the temple.

on the way home, crashed again. i loved it.

Happy Thanksgiving! i thought it would be faster to load the pictures if they were smaller, it wasnt. i learned my lesson.

Myleighs Salt Drawing

My sister home schools her kids when I was talking to her she had her boys drawing their letters in sugar in a cookie sheet. it sounded like a good idea and i wanted to try it with Myleigh and Natty the next day. I knew if I gave them sugar though there wouldnt be much drawing done, just eating, so I gave them salt instead. It worked. They didnt eat any of it. Myleigh was doing awesome. I asked Myleigh to draw an M and she did, so I grabbed the camera and was going to have her spell MOM and this is what I got. :D I love it.
video
the first bit is kinda shaky cause i was holding Phebe with the other arm. the funniest part is the very end when she tells you its a 'not-nice mommy'. haha.

Clock, dresser and Belly Button Cover.

I was so happy when I finished this clock because I finished it in the same day!!!! Lately due to certain events and additions to our family 'Mommy's craft time' has severly decreased. Now that we kinda have a schedule set up and Phebe sleeps 4-5 hours for me in the afternoon and M does quiet time better I've been making use of my time besides cleaning. I guess it helps that I spent 3 hours cleaning the night before (1.5 of those was dishes. ugh) so I could take time for myself. anywho, i guess its all how you manage your time. We havent had a clock in our front room since we moved here so I finally went out and got one. I got a cheap walmart one that ran me about $3.50 and dressed it up. i had bigger plans for it but this was all I got done.

Before:
Its not bad but i wanted something a little more dressy. with the help of my little angel and a set back (see the smug look on her face? i just told her not to paint on the glass)She even took a picture of her work while i was on the phone. she must have been pretty proud of herself.

After:
some small scuffs on the glass from rubbing off paint but i think it adds character. at least thats what i'll tell myself. I glued a couple of dowels I cut down to the back to hold it up. I've already looked at the time so many times tonight. funny how you never know what you use that often till you have it.
The following projects I finished a while ago but never posted, bear with me, this is the closest I got to a journal. My friend/neighbor Amy is pregnant, I got her some fabric to make a nursing cover and some for myself and we had a sewing night and this was our finished product. After I had Phebe and started to breastfeed Myleigh was awfully currious as to what was going on under the blankets. when i told her i was feeding her she said, "shes eating your belly button?" I dont think theres a need to correct her. Especially at this age where she says more than she should. Theres the story, and this is why these are called Belly button covers. at least at our house. more importantly, no more blankets in my mouth. :D woo hoo!Myleigh has been needing a dresser for her room. all we had was a large tuperware bin in her closet. i had been looking for one till i found this on our way to go swimming this summer. i got it for $7! again, woo hoo!!
Before:
I had a lot of help again with this project. She loved putting on her 'work clothes' and painting with us. she would say over and over, "back and forth, back and forth." i loved the help.

after reinforcing the shelves, 3 trips to Lowes, (still not the perfect color i wanted) and 3 coats of paint, new hardware and lining for the drawers, i finished.
After:
I've been turning our basement into a play room for Myles, its my current BIG project so stay tuned for more pictures when its completed. it feels good to be back in the crafty game. :D i love it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

Posted by Picasa

I turned 26 on Sunday. I was depressed Saturday, happy and accepting Sunday, today is just another day in my life. Interesting. :D Saturday night after mending and resting we went out to my favorite place, Red Robin. Nothing beats their endless stake fries and delicious burgers and of course, Freckled Strawberry Lemonades. Reeeeed Rooobin, hummmm. :D There were tons of birthdays that night and i felt good being the youngest. :D the guy in the booth next to us was turning 36, he had his family there. brothers and sisters, it looked like and his wife and one daughter about the age of 6? ish? another girl at the table next to us was turning 27. she had her friends there, no ring on her finger and a beer. she was very pretty, skinny and looked happy. when they got up she took her sweater off to reveal a sequined shirt, missing the top half that usually contained sleeves and arranged a carpool to the club. then there was me. a handsome husband, and two beautiful daughters there to love and sing and embarrass me. (with announcing to the waiter it was my birthday and just had to have alot of people sing to me. thanks shawn.) after seeing at least two ways my life could have been different, im glad i made the choices i've made. I'm happy where i am now in life. who wouldnt be when i get to be with these beauties all day? and night. hahahah.

Sunday was another mending day, we needed. Shawn had cooked me a delicious dinner and he and Myleigh made my 'cake.'
